Artemisia (Wormwood)
These perennials are grown mostly for their colorful, ornamental foliage. Most are very drought tolerant and prefer well-drained, more alkaline soils.
| Growing Temperature: | 55-60 °F Days, 45-55 °F Nights |
|---|---|
| Soil pH: | 5.6-6.2 |
| Fertility: | Average feeders. Do not over fertilize as stems can become weak and lead to "birds nesting" creating hollowed centers. |
| Pests and Diseases: | Aphids, whitefly. Root, stem and crown rot. Downy mildew. |
| Potting and Timing: | Select varieties can be much faster to finish/establish than others. |
| Moisture: | Grow dry. Do not like to be over wet, high moisture levels can lead to hollow centers. |
| Planting Level: | Place plug level with soil. |
| PGRs/Pinching: | Best growing practices are suitable for controlling height and shape. Make sure plants are evenly spaced and not grown in too warm or wet of conditions. |
